Thinking About Working With An Online Coach?
Working with an online coach is a fairly new phenomenon that has been around for maybe 10 year, although the popularity of it has increased in the past 5 or so years.
So for you who might be thinking about hiring an online coach, here are some of things you should be aware of, and what to possibly look out for when choosing who you work with.
Whenever I have a consultation with someone I like to give the analogy of it being like buying yourself a Christmas gift. And this comes it two parts.
First of all, just like any other service, you get what you pay for. You might be tempted to go for the cheapest option you can find, but usually this means the gift will not be personalised to you and may not actually give you what you wished for, or what you needed. So that smaller investment in a cookie cutter plan ended up being a waste of your money and time, and you are nowhere nearer where you want to be.
If you however decide to invest in a gift that will be personal, and something that you’ll actually get something out of, the return of your investment will more likely be a lot higher. Therefore, no money has been “wasted”.
The second part of this analogy is around what to expect when investing in an online coach who personalise your plans:
So you’ll invest in your Christmas Gift and it arrives to your home… then you open the box and it has many parts that all suppose to connect with each other. The coach will the manufacturer that has shipped the gift to you, and is also the instruction book to guide you, but you still have to be the one who put all the pieces together.
Bottom line: cheap cookie cutter plans may or may not help you get what you want. However, most of them are not appropriate for most people and do not teach you anything about the process. So if you could only buy yourself ONE gift, wouldn’t you want that investment be something that is special for you?
